But I know how I am with posting pictures from vacations, so rather than letting the hundreds of Spain pictures daunt me into paralysis and falling way behind, I'll just go ahead and post some pictures from this week.

After returning home, Josephine was scheduled to start school on Tuesday, but it was delayed because of an untimely (are they ever timely?) feverish virus, which thankfully she kicked with the help of some ibuprofen and Zanna's Curious George video that we borrowed for the flights.
So we didn't lose the whole week. She was able to begin school today, Thursday, much to her (and my and everyone's) delight!
She's attending her friend Zanna's day school, though they are in different classes. They still get to see each other on the playground and at chapel and in music class, though. And the other children in her class all seem very sweet. The teachers are creative and enthusiastic; I'm really happy that she's having this chance to diversify her daily routine twice a week. It's only from 9:00-1:00, so she still gets a nap at home, which means on whole, these days will provide me about 5 hours of toddler-free work time! INCREDIBLE! Maybe the kitchen will finally get done.

We had to wait and watch the rest of the class leave before she was willing to admit the day was over.
She had a great time, and according to Ms. Becca, her teacher, did a fabulous job. It must have worn her out pretty good... her ensuing blanket time consisted of nothing more than her just laying there, intermittently smiling sweetly and nodding off to sleep. Nap time might need to come a little earlier on school days. :-)

I have no idea when my kid got so big and independent, but whatever feelings of nostalgic sadness I have about her going to school are loudly swamped by how grateful I am that she has this opportunity, that she anticipates and enjoys it, and that I too reap the benefits of the balance it will add. This is undoubtedly a good step for us.
