Potty Party Prep

At the advice of the self-professed Queen of Potty Training, who says 22 months is the magic time to start toilet training, we decided to give Josephine's OCD tendencies, disgust with all things "dirtydirtydirty", and love of routine, stickers, and food a run for their money.
We embarked on the three-day intense potty training regimen on Monday!

This meant that for the previous couple weeks we were ramping up anticipation and excitement. Every day I had Josephine help me with something-- buying underwear, washing it, hanging it up to dry, decorating a tub of "big girl wipes", taking pictures, looking at them, talking about them, putting them on her reward chart, moving the potty chair into the bathroom and getting really excited about how it was HER toilet, clearing out the bottom drawer and letting her move all her underwear into it, letting her pack away her cloth diapers on the morning we started, etc. I think this was as much for me as her. I've been terrified of this process and needed a good bit of mental prep to get my game face ready!

Josephine's game face is much cuter:

I staged a few potty photos to add to her reward chart-- this is the only one Sean's allowing me to post, which should seriously disappoint you.

thanks! it's going pretty well. I will definitely post an update soon.

Christi, I had gift money to Dillards that I couldn't find anything to spend on, so I blew it all on toddler underwear. I picked through and feel like we ended up with a cute collection, but I just felt awkward the whole time. You wouldn't believe some of the junk they print on toddler panties. I guess am too old-fashioned. Anyway, the day after I took these pictures, I balanced out the collection with a couple packs of plain jane hanes from a thrift store and generally felt much better after that. :-)
